"We Believe Jazz has infinite Possibilisty." - JABBERLOOP

What's a Jabberloop you ask? It's Jazz, baby! The five musicians who go by the Star Wars inspires name JABBERLOOP have been playing together since 2004. After a series of Jazz albums in Japan the group just made their North American debut with the November release of "REVENGE of the SPACE MONSTER" through the Daruma Label.

Featuring Daisuke on sax, Melten on keyboard, Yuki on bass, Makoto at trumpet and Yohei banging the drums, JABBERLOOP play a varied Jazz sound to achieve, as they put it, "to make songs that people can hum easily."

On December 14, 2009, the members of JABBERLOOP were kind enough to give an interview to Andrew from J-Pop World. All photos courtesy of JABBERLOOP.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How did the band first get together back in 2004?

We started our career when we played jam sessions at Club Metro in Kyoto.

Were you all into the same type of music at the time?

No, not at all. Rock, funk, jazz etc... We mixed each players taste, and finally JABBERLOOP became a CROSSOVER music band.

What were the first few years together like? What type of places did you play at?

We have performed at clubs and streets everyday.

JABBERLOOP's "REENGE of the SPACE MONSTER"

By Shay, SparkPlugged

With a band name and album titles like this, don't tell me you're not interested.

Jazz monsters JABBERLOOP invade North America with their U.S. debut, REVENGE of the SPACE MONSTER. There's a handful of bands in Japan intent on proving that jazz doesn't have to be too chill and it's great to see one make themselves available to an international audience. Having released a vinyl EP in the U.K. with Mukatsuku Records, the America is the JABBERLOOP's latest conquest.

Jabberloop - Behind The Wind

Jabberloop is a club jazz band composed of five people (Sax, Trumpet, Keyboard, Bass, Drums). In May 2007, before their debut from a major label, they released a 12 inch EP, UGETSU, from Mukatsuku Records (label owned by Nik Weston). It was featured in a lot of domestic and international media and even in Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio "WORLD WIDE." Their debut album "and infinite jazz..." was released in the same year in Japan. Their music, full of unique vision of the world, has been highly admired in many international areas, and a lot of top DJ such as Gilles Peterson, Juergen (Jazzanova), and Patrick Forge (Da Lata), plays their music. Moreover, in Japan, they won the "ADLIB AWARDS 2007 Domestic Club Dance Prize" (ADLIB magazine). In July 2008, they released a collection / compilation album of the works they have featured in one year, which reveals everything of JABBERLOOP. It includes the songs that they have produced to other artists, remixed, some popular tunes from their debut album, and the greatest appeal is the inclusion of the live reconstructed ver., which gives a  "real" live feeling to the listeners. Including their music offer to other artists, as well as producing and remixing various artists' music, JABBERLOOP's "infinite" musical expression continues to evolve with no end to it.
